clink!clink! clink!

As if we don’t have enough to celebrate this week…

We found a giant set of etched star stemware, too! All different shapes and sizes of glasses – cordials, champagnes, whiskeys, tumblers, sherberts – that came together to create one mighty set that can change the world! Or maybe just your world. Or maybe just your glass cabinet. Whatever. We’re just really excited about lots of things these days.

damn!

A gentleman recently popped his head into our shop to tell us about an electric mantle clock he purchased from us a number of months back. Long story short, he said that it fits perfectly in a custom cabinet he’s had for some time now and when he took the metal plate off the back of the clock, it increased its decibel level to a church-like resonance. He went on to tell us the details of his joy and ended his story with “… it’s the perfect clock that I’ve been looking twenty years for.”

Well, that is the same feeling we got when we crossed paths with the L.A. based, Dee & Lala. Their letterpress cards use great paper, are designed in a way that is clear, concise and oh-so clever. And while we may not have been searching anywhere near 20 years, we definitely found what we were looking for.

run, forest, run.

ahh!

Favorite Finds – The Birth of a New Year

Flash! Ah-aaahhh!

Welcome 2009! It’s a real pleasure to meet you.

You may have noticed, we’ve been on a brief blog-writing hiatus. For that, we will lay half the blame on Winter Blast 2008 for throwing off our sense of time and space. Did anyone else feel like they were in a time warp, sucked into a vortex, located in a ghost town? The other half we will blame on the overall lack of treasure hunting opportunities we people in the treasure hunting business face in the final 3 weeks of any year. That’s the official story. Of course, unofficially, we just wanted to take a break.

But now we’re back and ready to write. And we are so happy to report that on our first trip of the new year we were greeted with loads of great vintage goodies. Among our best finds was a large-type typewriter (amazing!), a Victorian framed print, a lovely glass set, a hundred year old copy of “The Household Physician” and – smallest of them all – our mini nativity scene, which stands at an admirable 3 inches. With a sweet start like this, we can’t wait to see what more 2009 holds for us.
