Favorite Find – Spring Fling

Sunday, March 22nd, 2009

Spring is finally here and we in the Pacific Northwest couldn’t be happier. Of course, we will still have our fair share of rain for the next 2 months but it will now be broken up with sunshine instead of snow. And what better way to celebrate the coming of birds, bees, and leaves on trees than with a new accessory?

We just received a new batch of clutches from one of our favorite artists. Little byRD Vintage is so handy with a needle and thread we just can’t handle it sometimes. She’s been making clutches for us for a while but her new ones are perfect for the new season, embellished with silk flowers and vintage trimmings. We can picture ourselves now skipping down the sidewalk, bathed in sunshine with our cute little clutch swinging on our wrist, flowers blooming as we pass.

Apr/May 09 Portland Spaces

While it often feels like we live in our shop, we don’t. We actually live 3 blocks away in an awesome apartment that we were lucky enough to get because we knew the previous renters. This month, Portland Spaces showcases the place we call home. There’s even a picture of our cat, B! Needless to say, we were really flattered when they asked us about doing the story and photoshoot. We thought magazine spreads were only for big houses, with big budgets. Lucky for us, we were wrong. It turns out that even renters who buy secondhand have a home on the glossy pages. Yeah!

The Owls Have It!

When we were deciding what to feature in our favorite finds section this week, we weren’t quite sure what to talk about. So we started looking around the shop for inspiration…

We walked in the back and to the left we looked fondly at a new vase and plate both decorated with lovely little owls. We walked back up front and saw an old owl-shaped incense burner we found a few weeks ago. We turned around and what did we see? A small gold statue of an owl with his little owl friend! We circled around again, looked down, and there was the old stone owl, perched atop a stone branch we just pulled from storage. Standing up, we faced a table which held some cards embellished with letterpressed owls. Finally, we looked up and saw wonderful “woolie” owls hanging on our walls.

At that point, this post was basically written for us. We figured it was a sign. We are pretty sure we have something to satisfy every owl-lover’s needs, except a real owl. So come on down to our newly renamed shop, Noun: an owl emporium for the rest of us.
